Mental Health Support Specialist
QMHP-E/TRAINEE
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Supervisor
This position involves the provision of an array of training, support and ADL’s services within the community setting. Support specialist are responsible for all consumer related documentation and reports as well as the development and implementation of treatment goals and objectives. Facilitating parent and peer support groups as needed is also expected. Support specialists are required to use their own vehicles in the performance of duties. A reimbursed monthly stipend is offered to full time employees. On a monthly basis, 98% of the services provided are to be in the form of direct involvement with consumers and/or their family members and service providers. The remaining time will be utilized for service coordination and administrative duties. QMHP Trainees’ must be registered with the Board of Counseling in accordance with 18VAC115-80 to provide collaborative mental health services for adults. Trainees receive bi-weekly supervision and training in order to meet the qualifications as a QMHP in accordance with 18VAC115-80. The position reports directly to the Supervisor.
DUTIES:
Participates in the person centered treatment plan within the initial thirty-day period
Monitor and assess consumer/family situations
Monitor consumer services and review discharge status as needed
Engage referral agency as needed
Attend bi-weekly supervision and training with supervisor
Act as the liaison between family, referring agencies, and other community organizations
Coordinate consumer services between various agencies
Adhere to agency’s documentation policies
Maintain compliant case records and accurately document services rendered
Attend staff meetings consistently. Prior approval from management team is required when absent
Maintain high degree of consumer confidentiality and professional boundaries
Prior to the end of each ninety-day service period, assist to coordinate a staffing for the consumer
Follow the agency’s crisis protocol
Participate in person center plan meetings at consumers’ request
Other duties as required by the needs of the agency

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in human services or a related field from an accredited college.
Registered with the Board of Counseling as a QMHP-E in accordance with 18VAC115-80 to provide collaborative mental health services.
